What an incredible month of reading we’ve had at Erickson Elementary! A huge thank you to our dedicated teacher team—Ms. Cooper, Mr. DeBoon, and Mr. Davies—who brought this exciting event to life.

As we approach spring break starting March 17, the pace of learning in our schools seems to accelerate. Children are working hard to improve their reading, writing, number and math skills, science knowledge, while participating in elementary and high school sports, performing in theatre productions; pursuing the media arts, trades and developing their kindness and empathy toward others.

We’re a month into 2025, and it’s so exciting to see snow! In schools right now, schools are offering ski trips and other opportunities for outdoor activities with great support from our bus drivers and other transportation staff who make sure children and youth get where they are going and back again safely during and after school hours.

As we leave November behind us and move into December toward the winter break and the half-way point in the school year, it's a great time to reflect on the past three months and how school communities and SD8 as a whole are supporting each child in their learning journey.

Today marks the 40th day of school, and we are thrilled with the great start to our school year!

As we move into the winter season, our teachers have led classes on engaging field trips, offered a variety of extracurricular clubs, completed literacy and numeracy assessments, and are focusing on ways to support each student’s academic growth.

It's my pleasure to share this month's happenings across our school communities. Throughout the early fall months, students have engaged in a wide variety of learning activities and events from marking Métis Awareness Month by putting up a teepee and examining what learnings come from that process, to incredible Halloween costumes and spirit that delighted staff, students and families.
