I’m very pleased to welcome each student and their families back to school for the 2025-2026 year.

The first day of school is always exciting and full of promise for each child in kindergarten through grade 12. The positive anticipation and energy of children embarking on a new year of learning extends to teachers, support staff, school principals and vice-principals, bus drivers, custodians, and to every employee in SD8. It’s what inspires us to serve children, families and our communities throughout the year.

SD8 staff will work together with families over the next 10 months to embrace and nourish your child’s excitement about learning in all its forms, and to inspire each learner to thrive. Whether your child arrived in a new classroom or classes on September 2 or logged in to a new online course through Elev8-Desk, each of our educators and those staff who support education and students will work together to foster a learning environment that is both caring and inclusive.

SD8 is committed to equity, inclusivity and diversity as reflections of every person’s fundamental human rights. SD8 staff and students participate in many important gatherings and events throughout the school year so that each student can be seen, heard and celebrated for who they are.

It is once again, my honour and privilege to support our staff to do what they do best – teach, support and encourage students to learn and thrive. Along with our Board of Education, I wish each of you a wonderful year ahead.

Warmly, Trish
